Hi, I’m Wendi!
I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia until I was almost fourteen, when my family moved to Texas, and that’s where I’ve called home ever since. Today, I’m a stay-at-home mom who doesn’t get paid in money, but it’s truly the best job in the world. Alongside that calling, I’ve spent the past fifteen years serving as a ministry leader, walking with people through seasons of pain, healing, and transformation. Somewhere along the way, I also became an author-something I never saw coming.
My writing began not out of ambition, but out of obedience. For years, after sharing my story at churches, retreats, and women’s events, people would ask if they could share it with someone else like a friend, a spouse, or a loved one who needed hope. I always brushed it off as something out of reach, convinced I wasn’t “a writer.” But when God says go, you go. After enough nudges (and years of persistent requests), I finally took the plunge. In 2018, I published my first book, Journey to the Father’s Heart: One Woman’s Journey to Know the True, Unconditional Love of the Father.
Since then, I’ve written about another subject God put on my heart after years of struggling to find healing through “traditional” means with no success. My current project, The Christian’s Guide to Psychedelics: Finding Hope and Healing Through God’s Creation, explores the intersection of faith, science, and healing through a deeply Christian lens. It’s a story about redemption and restoration, not through substances, but through the Creator who made them. A revised edition is coming in 2026, with new chapters and insights inspired by the countless conversations I’ve had with others walking the path of healing.
Writing has never been my passion in itself; Jesus is. Every word I write comes from a place of obedience, not desire. He’s the only reason I do this and the only source of inspiration that keeps me going when I’d rather not sit down at the keyboard at all.
When I’m not writing or leading in ministry, you’ll probably find me traveling. I’m a self-confessed points-and-miles nerd and a licensed travel agent who loves finding the best deals and seeing new corners of the world. At twenty-one, I was a flight attendant and also jumped out of a plane that same year (though thankfully, not while I was on duty!). Life has always been an adventure with God at the helm.
Over the years, I’ve spoken at countless churches, women’s retreats, and youth camps, sharing what God has done in my life. These days, I’m gearing up for the pushback I know will come from writing this next book. It’s not a message everyone will understand right away, but I believe it’s one the Church needs to hear. When God calls you to speak truth, no matter how uncomfortable, obedience still isn’t optional.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple truth: God’s love and healing are for everyone. My message may be directed primarily toward the Christian community, but I believe it’s a story meant for the whole world. If my words point even one person closer to the Father’s heart, then the work has been worth it.
Two mottos have carried me through every season of life: “Where there’s a Wendi, there’s a way” and “If you don’t A-S-K, you don’t G-E-T.” Both remind me that faith and persistence go hand in hand; and that when you walk with God, even the impossible starts to look possible.
XO, Wendi Rees
