Hi, Iβm Wendi Rees!
I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia until I was almost fourteen, when my family moved to Texas, and thatβs where Iβve called home ever since. Today, Iβm a stay-at-home mom who doesnβt get paid in money, but itβs truly the best job in the world. Alongside that calling, Iβve spent the past fifteen years serving as a ministry leader, walking with people through seasons of pain, healing, and transformation, all while focusing on the importance of Christian healing. Somewhere along the way, I also became an authorβsomething I never saw coming.
My faith-based writing began not out of ambition, but out of obedience. For years, after sharing my story at churches, retreats, and womenβs events, people would ask if they could share it with someone else like a friend, a spouse, or a loved one who needed hope. I always brushed it off as something out of reach, convinced I wasnβt βa writer.β But when God says go, you go. After enough nudges (and years of persistent requests), I finally took the plunge. In 2018, I published my first book, Journey to the Fatherβs Heart: One Womanβs Journey to Know the True, Unconditional Love of the Father.
Since then, Iβve written about another subject God put on my heart after years of struggling to find healing through βtraditionalβ means with no success. My current project, The Christianβs Guide to Psychedelics: Finding Hope and Healing Through Godβs Creation, explores the intersection of faith, science, and healing through a deeply Christian lens. Itβs a story about redemption and restoration, not through substances, but through the Creator who made them. The revised edition is now available, featuring new chapters and a foreword by Governor Rick Perry, testimony by Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, and endorsements by Dr. Charles Gordon and W. Bryan Hubbard - with Perry, Gordon, and Hubbard each recording their own voiceovers for the audiobook.
Writing has never been my passion in itself; Jesus is. Every word I write comes from a place of obedience, not desire. Heβs the only reason I do this and the only One Who inspires me to keep going when Iβd rather not sit down at the keyboard at all.
When Iβm not writing or leading in ministry, youβll probably find me traveling. Iβm a self-confessed points-and-miles nerd and a licensed travel agent who loves finding the best deals and seeing new corners of the world. At twenty-one, I was a flight attendant and also jumped out of a plane that same year (though thankfully, not while I was on duty!). Life has always been an adventure with God at the helm.
Over the years, Iβve spoken at countless churches, womenβs retreats, and youth camps, sharing what God has done in my life. These days, Iβm gearing up for the pushback I know will come from writing this next book. Itβs not a message everyone will understand right away, but I believe itβs one the Church needs to hear. When God calls you to speak truth, no matter how uncomfortable, obedience still isnβt optional.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple truth: Godβs love and healing are for everyone. My message may be directed primarily toward the Christian community, but I believe itβs a story meant for the whole world. If my words point even one person closer to the Fatherβs heart, then the work has been worth it.
Two mottos have carried me through every season of life: βWhere thereβs a Wendi, thereβs a wayβ and βIf you donβt A-S-K, you donβt G-E-T.β Both remind me that faith and persistence go hand in hand; and that, when you walk with God, even the impossible starts to look possible.
XO, Wendi Rees
